Rochester Beacon Academy is a tuition free, public charter school for eligible students entering grades 6th through 12th.

Open Enrollment and Lottery

Our Open Enrollment for new students is from Jan. 1 - Jan. 31 of each year.  In the initial “Open Enrollment” period all applicants have an equal opportunity for admission regardless of submitting an application on the first day or the last day of the open enrollment. At the end of the Open Enrollment period, if your student has been offered a seat at our school, you will be notified by email and instructed to complete the necessary enrollment paperwork.

If the number of applications submitted within the Open Enrollment period exceeds the number of seats available for any grade level, a system generated, random lottery will be processed to determine who is offered a seat at the school.  Lottery results will be emailed to the address entered on the application submitted.

SOAR (Students Obtaining Advocacy and Responsibility) Open Enrollment 18-22 Program

Open enrollment will begin in January for RBA’s 18-22 program. Enrollment forms can be completed with Beth Bruns at beth.bruns@rochesterbeaconacademy.org for those who are eligible via their IEP. If you have questions if your student is eligible please contact Beth Bruns. 

Students with individual education plans who are eligible for the 18-22 program will focus on work experience skills in the classroom and community, social skills, and home living skills - specifically addressing students' IEP goals. Students will focus on 4 "classes". These classes focus on work experience, social skills, community living, and home living skills. Students will also have a work component out in the community. The program will be using the Project Discovery Life Skills curriculum and it will allow students to work on some real-life skills. Staff will use real-life personal and work experiences as a teaching lesson or provide a student with 1:1 support in a controlled environment to problem solve what they need to do. This program also allows for staff to provide feedback and coordinate with a student's work placement to promote success.
